The Conservation Area is open year round with excellent cross country skiing along miles of groomed trails.  The course is considered moderate with no serious challenges, although there are some steep hills throughout the trail system.  Hikers and skiers can access all of the trail loops from the trailhead that starts in the parking lot.  In addition to the miles of trails the Conservation Area holds a portion of the Rogers City Huron Sunrise Trail as well.

The Herman Vogler Conservation Area is 270 acres of public land that is a dynamic natural habitat.  The Herman Vogler Conservation Area contains more than seven miles of trails that are used by bikers, skiers, fishers, bird watchers and nature lovers all wrapped around the nine acre Trout River Flooding.
